SÃO PAULO: WOMEN IN FOCUS WORKSHOP: EMPOWERMENT AND REFLECTION THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography plays an extremely important role in many aspects of modern life, in addition to being a form of artistic expression, it is also a powerful tool for visual communication. For this reason, in April, the São Paulo unit of the Institute of Development Hope Brazil – IDEBRA held the Women in Focus Workshop, for women who seek to know themselves through photography. [foto]

Held in partnership with Numen Produtora and sponsored by the company Total Energies, the workshop was attended by 13 of IDEBRA’s students and was taught by photographer Deka Carvalho, a professional who has been working in the area for ten years. The activity took place from the 10th to the 14th of April, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the IDEBRA unit, in São Paulo/SP, located in Arca do Crescer.

Women in Focus is an empowerment project that seeks to value the perspective of contemporary women. Aiming to provide participants with a platform to express their unique views on society and their journey. The photography workshop allowed students to explore different forms of representation and visual narratives, delving into relevant and challenging themes that involve the female condition.

At the end of the workshop, students were presented with a photographic exhibition, called “Real Essences”, based on the material produced during the activity. This was an opportunity to share the stories and perspectives with the public, encouraging an open dialogue about issues in today’s society.

“Real Essences is a photographic exhibition that portrays the beauty of women in their scars and strengths. Each image presents a unique story of overcoming and strength, showing how scars can be a symbol of strength and resilience. These photographs are a reminder that difficult experiences can leave physical and emotional scars, but they can also make us stronger and braver. Real Essences is a tribute to women who have faced challenges, but who continue to shine and inspire other women to do the same” – Description of the exhibition Real Essences, São Paulo/SP.

The Women in Focus initiative is more than a photography workshop, it is a movement that empowers women to express and affirm themselves, contributing to the construction of a more inclusive and egalitarian society. By providing the opportunity to explore photography as an extra activity, IDEBRA becomes even more comprehensive and prepares students to face the challenges of the job market in a more complete and multidisciplinary way.
