Historic

In 2005, ID Logistics decided to install a subsidiary in Duque de Caxias/RJ. On the occasion, three of its executives – Eric Hémar, Christophe Satin, and Pierre Nahon – became bothered by the social reality of the region, upon reflection the trio became motivated to help the young locals. Determined to make a change they convinced others to contribute with an investment of financial resources, time, with logistical and administrative support. That’s how IDEBRA was born. The Instituto de Desenvolvimento Brasil-Esperança (Brazilian-Hope Development Institute), a Civil Society Organization (CSO) of Public Interest came to change the reality and bring hope for the future to the young locals.

The work started in partnership with the community residents association and the first partner was the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation. In that year, a hundred kids practice volleyball lessons. IDEBRA, at that time, denominated ID Esperança (Hope ID) had their first social action together with the project “Eu Vivo no Beira Mar” (I live in Beira Mar), with the goal of understanding the local community’s necessities. It was extremely necessary to assist them in rescuing their value and regaining self-esteem.

From 2006 to 2009 the number of assisted children went up to two hundred. The activities were expanded with dance workshops, craftwork, citizenship, and professional orientation. The reading room and the computer course were created.

In 2010, IDEBRA added the audiovisual workshop, belly dancing, and hip hop to their grid of cultural and sports activities.

From 2011 to 2013, apart from the activities already occurring, IDEBRA focussed on the realization of multi-year planning that resulted in its institutional strength and the elaboration of new projects for the next four years.

In 2014, as part of the strategic planning, IDEBRA’s installations were transferred to a new headquarters in a location that would broaden their capacity to assist more of the youth population, with a better struct and more adequate spaces to attend foreseen activities.

This year, activities were resumed in the new headquarters and with a differential: the certified technical capacitation in the logistical area with the purpose of multiplying the youth knowledge and open opportunities of entry into the job market.
