IDEBRA ENCOURAGES THE FEMALE POPULATION OF DUQUE DE CAXIAS/RJ

Women’s dance classes mark the institution’s curriculum

The Institute of Development Hope Brazil (IDEBRA) celebrates its 5th year of supporting women in leading healthier lives. According to the São Paulo Association for the Development of Medicine, dance can positively influence the body’s health and mind of those who practice it, helping not only in the treatment of anxiety, stress, and depression but also in improving their attention, memory, and reasoning skills.

The “Rhythm Classes” initiative has been taking place since 2017, at IDEBRA’s headquarters in Duque de Caxias/RJ, aimed at women between thirty and sixty years old. With the objective of contributing to their physical health and strengthening the participants’ self-esteem through physical activities, lectures, workshops, celebrations, and more. Classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 6:50 pm and are taught by Douglas Luiz Mendes, a former IDEBRA student.

On commemorative dates, like Internation Women’s Day or Pink October a circuit of lectures and workshops is organized, as well as the celebration of birthdays, held quarterly. The students, in addition to having free participation in the other activities made available by IDEBRA, also collaborate in the project’s advertisement at Vila Operária community, located in Duque de Caxias/RJ.

“Rhythms was a request made by the mothers of our students in the dance workshop and is a great opportunity for the other women around our project. I believe that physical activity is good for the health of the body and mind, I am very happy to follow their development in class”, says Adrieli Silva, administrative assistant at IDEBRA.

IDEBRA is a Civil Society Organization focused on training the Brazilian youth since 2005, based in Duque de Caxias/RJ.
